# Rigel CMS 1.0.0-rc.1

October 25, 2026

`1.0.0-rc.1` is a release candidate, not a stable 1.0 release. The release source is commit [`2ae263e`](https://github.com/rigel-cms/rigel/commit/2ae263e3b9c4bf0e0a404c1515d9bbf78efffe6b). The package uses the `rc` distribution tag.

## Included in RC1

- An Astro integration with the editor at `/rigel/`, local development writes and a GitHub repository backend.
- Developer-declared JSON documents and reusable shared records, section objects, keyed arrays and references. Existing `defineCopy` content remains supported.
- Prepared HTML previews with explicit field bindings, in-memory draft updates, separate draft and live hosts, and sanitized cross-origin snapshots.
- JSON article collections with Lexical block bodies, Inline preview as the default article editing experience, an optional Sidebar experience and a read-only Markdown view.
- GitHub sign-in and repository access checks, saves to the shared drafts branch, and batch publishing through a reviewed pull request and squash merge.
- A media library with configurable upload limits, UUID filenames, editable metadata, video and document previews, and confirmed local file deletion.
- Content and SEO fields, configurable content navigation and existing JSON menu editing.

## Requirements and limits

Use Node.js 24, Astro `^7.3.0`, Svelte `^5.57.0` and Vite `^8.0.0`. The default maximum upload size is 2 MB, configurable in bytes.

Local filesystem writes require the Astro development server. Static hosting uses the GitHub backend for content changes. GitHub media writes are not implemented, and a website deployment still depends on the host’s build pipeline.

Previews need prepared HTML and bindings; they do not execute the website’s interactive scripts. The host must implement its own draft filtering, routes and SEO output.

## Not included

Independent editor `template` mappings were added after this release in commit `a072883`. They are unreleased and are not part of RC1. RC1 collection previews use the existing `new` mapping. See the [preview guide](/docs/preview/) for the version boundary.
